During December 2024, work focused on enhancing the Jibing-Li/incubator-doris repository by implementing MySQL TCP Keep-Alive support to improve backend connection reliability. This feature introduced a configurable option, mysql_nio_enable_keep_alive, which integrates with the server’s socket configuration to enable TCP keep-alive probes for idle MySQL connections. By detecting and closing dead or idle connections, the update addressed potential resource leaks and improved overall network stability. The development process involved backend engineering using Java, with a strong emphasis on MySQL integration and network configuration. The work demonstrated a targeted approach to performance optimization through practical, maintainable changes in server connection management.
