Worked on the rustfs/rustfs repository over two months, focusing on backend development and observability improvements using Rust, Docker, and Grafana. Addressed multipart directory scanning errors and enhanced metadata encryption status detection, ensuring compatibility across legacy formats and improving reliability for large-scale object listing. Refactored directory filtering logic to reduce I/O and expanded test coverage for multipart scanning scenarios. Developed cluster-level compression metrics with in-memory accumulation and debounced persistence, integrating these into the observability scheduler for periodic reporting. Fixed Grafana dashboard layout issues and aligned Tempo versions, resulting in more accurate monitoring and streamlined deployment processes for the backend system.
June 2026 (2026-06) — RustFS/RustFS: Focused on boosting observability, reliability, and deployment correctness. Delivered dashboard and metrics improvements that directly support faster diagnosis and data-driven optimizations; fixed a Grafana layout and Tempo version alignment to ensure dashboards render correctly and deployments use the right Tempo version; introduced cluster-level compression metrics with in-memory accumulation and debounced persistence to backend storage, integrated into the existing observability scheduler for periodic reporting. These changes improve data accuracy, reduce debugging time, and strengthen our capacity to monitor and optimize compression performance across the cluster.
