During February 2025, Liushen focused on backend development and distributed systems within the apache/bookkeeper repository, addressing a critical issue in the region-aware placement policy. By introducing the updateBookieInfo method to the RegionAwareEnsemblePlacementPolicy, Liushen ensured that disk weight updates were correctly propagated to sub-policies, improving the accuracy of cross-region data placement. This Java-based solution included the addition of targeted tests, such as testRegionsWithDifferentDiskWeight, to validate the correct influence of disk weight changes and prevent data skew. The work demonstrated careful code maintenance and test-driven development, contributing to the stability and correctness of multi-region system design.
