Developed a security automation feature for the 9001/copyparty repository by implementing a Fail2ban 404 Logging Handler. This addition logs HTTP 404 responses directly to Fail2ban, enabling the system to automatically ban IP addresses responsible for excessive 404 errors. The approach focused on backend development using Python, integrating logging mechanisms to enhance operational security and reduce unwanted traffic from automated scans. By streamlining the detection and mitigation of suspicious activity, the work improved incident response times and reduced system noise. The solution demonstrated skills in Python, backend security, and effective integration of third-party tools within an existing codebase.
