During December 2025, Benoit Vinay enhanced the self-hosted to cloud migration flow in the metabase/metabase repository. He updated migration URLs and introduced a migration-source-plan parameter to improve the handling of migration plans, focusing on reducing friction for users transitioning to the cloud. Using React and TypeScript, Benoit refactored the migration logic for clearer structure, centralizing URL management within hooks and removing deprecated login paths. He expanded unit test coverage to validate the migration path and established test scaffolding for ongoing quality assurance. This work improved maintainability and laid the foundation for future migration enhancements in the codebase.
