Worked on the matplotlib repository to enhance interoperability between NumPy and MLX Arrays, focusing on improving core data conversion paths. Developed and integrated the _is_mlx_array function and extended the _unpack_to_numpy logic to support MLX Arrays, enabling seamless conversion without introducing additional dependencies in the test suite. Added targeted tests to ensure MLX Arrays convert to NumPy correctly, maintaining test isolation and reducing reliance on external libraries. Utilized Python and NumPy extensively, with an emphasis on robust library development and comprehensive testing. The work delivered measurable improvements in compatibility and maintainability for data analysis workflows within the codebase.
