Worked on the zed-industries/gemini-cli repository to enhance extension installation reliability by developing improved URL parsing and validation for non-GitHub SCP-style URLs. Addressed a specific edge case that previously blocked installations from alternative hosting services, enabling broader compatibility and reducing installation failures for users. The technical approach involved refining the CLI’s handling of SCP URLs, ensuring robust validation logic and seamless integration with various Git hosting providers. Utilized TypeScript for full stack development and incorporated thorough testing practices. This work contributed to smoother user experiences and decreased support needs by lowering friction for customers using non-GitHub extension sources.
