Worked on the atlanhq/application-sdk repository to deliver the Auto Heartbeater Enhancement, enabling robust management of both synchronous and asynchronous activities. Extended the auto_heartbeater decorator to support automatic heartbeat signaling across different execution contexts, improving reliability for long-running workflows. Introduced a method for retrieving heartbeat timeout settings, allowing for greater configurability and monitoring. Enhanced error handling during activity execution to surface issues earlier and provide richer diagnostic context, reducing troubleshooting time and preventing silent task failures. Utilized Python for backend development, applying asynchronous programming techniques and unit testing to ensure the feature’s stability and maintainability throughout the development process.
March 2026: Delivered the Auto Heartbeater Enhancement for synchronous and asynchronous activity management in the atlanhq/application-sdk. This included extending the auto_heartbeater decorator to support both execution contexts, adding a new method to retrieve heartbeat timeout settings, and improving error handling during activity execution. The changes enhance reliability, observability, and configurability for long-running workflows, reducing troubleshooting time and preventing silent task failures.
