During November 2024, Myathnal advanced Kubernetes volume management by developing and integrating the Volume Group Snapshots Custom Resource Definition in the kubernetes/kubernetes repository. This work involved enhancing the API to support multi-volume snapshotting, updating API versioning, and ensuring compatibility with the latest external snapshotter. Using Go and leveraging expertise in API development and E2E testing, Myathnal established a standardized approach for managing volume group snapshots. The implementation laid a robust foundation for improved data protection workflows and streamlined multi-volume backup processes, addressing upgrade risks and supporting storage-heavy workloads with more reliable and maintainable snapshot management capabilities within Kubernetes environments.
