During December 2024, Mantass Mantvydas developed a configurable Host Selection Policy for the Cassandra NoSQL plugin in the cadence-workflow/cadence repository. He introduced a new ClusterConfig field and extended the toGoCqlConfig parsing and application path, enabling dynamic selection of Cassandra hosts for queries. This backend development work, implemented in Go and leveraging the gocql driver, improved query reliability and load distribution by allowing policy-driven host selection at runtime. The solution enhanced operational control and flexibility for Cassandra-backed storage, addressing scalability and resilience needs. Mantass’s contribution demonstrated depth in database configuration and runtime policy application, though no bugs were addressed.
