Worked on the rubyforgood/awbw repository to upgrade the application to Rails 8.1, focusing on production readiness and DevOps stability. Addressed compatibility issues by updating various gems and configuration files, ensuring a smooth transition to the new Rails version. Improved the CI pipeline by resolving build errors and refining the Dockerfile, which enhanced deployment reliability. Removed the Rails Admin gem to streamline the admin interface and reduce maintenance overhead. Utilized Ruby, Shell scripting, and Docker throughout the process, demonstrating a methodical approach to both application modernization and infrastructure stability within a collaborative open source environment over the course of one month.
