Worked on stabilizing the DSpace submission workflow in the atmire/DSpace repository by addressing a bug related to primary bitstream identification during uploads. Refactored the Java-based UploadStep module to extract the primary bitstream ID before iterating through bitstreams within a bundle, ensuring accurate association of the primary file with submission data. This backend development effort improved data integrity and reduced the risk of mis-association errors in the ingestion process. The targeted fix enhanced the reliability of the submission pipeline, resulting in smoother user experiences and more robust data handling throughout the DSpace submission module’s workflow.
