Max Nuding stabilized the DSpace submission workflow in the atmire/DSpace repository by addressing a bug in the UploadStep module. He refactored the Java backend logic to ensure the primary bitstream ID is extracted before iterating through bitstreams within a bundle, which improved the accuracy of primary file association during uploads. This targeted change enhanced data integrity and reduced the risk of mis-association across bundles, resulting in a more reliable ingestion process. Max demonstrated backend development expertise and strong debugging skills, validating the improved submission accuracy and contributing to a smoother user experience for DSpace’s submission pipeline.
