Worked on improving the reliability of the NousResearch/hermes-agent by addressing a critical environment propagation issue in system-scoped gateway operations. Focused on ensuring that the HERMES_HOME variable is consistently read from the systemd unit environment and correctly applied to the process, which reduced restart incidents caused by misconfiguration. Utilized DevOps practices, shell scripting, and Python to align environment handling with process startup, resulting in more accurate gateway status and PID lookups. This targeted bug fix enhanced the stability of systemd-managed deployments, supporting smoother operations and reducing operational toil for teams managing Hermes agent in production environments.
