Worked on the unslothai/unsloth repository to enhance distributed training robustness by addressing a critical bug related to EmptyLogits in nested payloads. Focused on backend development and distributed systems, the work involved patching Accelerate’s recursive_apply function, refining device discovery logic, and ensuring idempotent wrappers for stable multi-process execution across CPU and GPU environments. Improved serialization semantics and extended test coverage validated the changes, maintaining training stability and preventing runtime errors in recursive functions. Collaborated on code reviews and pre-commit automation, using Python and advanced testing practices to deliver production-ready improvements that strengthen distributed execution and cross-device compatibility.
