During the month, contributed to the openfrontio/OpenFrontIO repository by addressing a critical security vulnerability in the NewsModal component. Focused on front end development and security best practices, the work involved upgrading the sanitize-html JavaScript library to version 2.17.4 or higher to remediate a reported XSS risk. Enforced the secure dependency version through package.json overrides, ensuring consistent protection across builds and preventing regression. The patch was validated with local testing and required no user interface changes, minimizing deployment risk. This targeted fix reduced the attack surface for all users and strengthened client-side data protection without impacting application functionality.
