Worked on the BioKIC/Symbiota repository to enhance error visibility during taxonomy data processing workflows. Addressed a backend issue where errors from the buildHierarchyEnumTree function were previously ignored, implementing a solution in PHP that captures and displays error output during taxonomy uploads. This change improved feedback for users and enabled more efficient debugging by making failures in taxonomy processing immediately visible. The update contributed to greater observability and reliability in the ingestion pipeline, reducing uncertainty and improving data quality. Focused on backend development, the work emphasized robust error handling and data processing, supporting a more transparent and maintainable ingestion process.
