During May 2025, Manuel Fuster developed a role-based announcement visibility feature for the sakaiproject/sakai repository. He introduced a RoleAccessFilter in the Java backend to control which user roles could view specific announcements, updating the getMessages and getAnnouncementMessage logic to enforce these new access controls. This approach enabled targeted announcements to be visible across different user roles, improving cross-role communication and aligning with governance requirements.
