During November 2024, Mika Chan developed frontend empty-block template warnings for both the peterwilsoncc/wordpress-develop and WordPress/WordPress repositories. She implemented user-facing messages that alert logged-in users when a block template is empty, providing direct links to the site editor for immediate customization. Using CSS for styling and PHP for rendering logic, Mika established a reusable UX pattern that improves editor efficiency and reduces confusion. Her work focused on maintainability by ensuring consistent messaging across repositories. While the scope was limited to two features and did not include bug fixes, the solutions addressed editor workflow gaps with targeted, user-friendly enhancements.
