Worked on the smithy-lang/smithy-rs repository to deliver core Document interoperability by implementing Serializer and Deserializer traits for aws_smithy_types::Document, enabling seamless conversion between Rust structs and a protocol-agnostic Document format. Refactored the document module into a dedicated package with clear separation of serialization and deserialization logic, improving maintainability and extensibility. Developed approximately forty unit tests to ensure robust round-trip serialization for primitives, collections, and edge cases. Contributed to release readiness by updating changelogs and metadata, and collaborated with other contributors to clarify design and onboarding. Utilized Rust, serialization, and deserialization skills to enhance developer experience and codebase quality.
May 2026: Delivered core Document interoperability and improved module structure to support robust, maintainable, and high-velocity development in smithy-rs. The work reduces boilerplate, enables seamless Rust<->Document conversions, and prepares the codebase for future performance optimizations and ecosystem integration.
