During November 2025, Mesafi developed an automated Nix garbage collection feature for the Mole repository, focusing on optimizing developer environments by removing unused packages and freeing disk space. The solution was implemented through shell scripting and integrated into the existing cleanup script, leveraging Bash and system administration skills to automate maintenance tasks. By streamlining the cleanup process, Mesafi improved resource utilization and accelerated onboarding for new developers. The work demonstrated a practical application of DevOps principles, with careful attention to code quality and maintainability. Although no bugs were fixed, the feature laid a solid foundation for future enhancements in Mole.
