Worked on the geoserver/geoserver repository to deliver a FIPS-compliant cryptography enhancement for Wicket, focusing on secure random number generation in Java backend systems. Developed and integrated a new secure random number generator class, ensuring that application settings default to FIPS-validated cryptographic standards for production reliability. The approach included updating configuration files and providing traceable commits to support secure-by-default deployment practices. Emphasized backend development and unit testing to validate the new cryptographic functionality, aligning with FIPS requirements. This work addressed the need for compliant cryptography in enterprise environments, strengthening the security posture of geoserver deployments without introducing new bugs.
