Worked on the open-telemetry/opentelemetry-java repository, focusing on enhancing the reliability of Exponential Histogram serialization in Java-based backend systems. Addressed a key edge case by making the SUM field optional during serialization, ensuring that data points with a zero SUM are handled correctly. Improved test coverage by introducing targeted unit tests to validate behavior when the SUM is zero, thereby strengthening data integrity for telemetry exporters. Emphasized robust backend development practices and thorough unit testing throughout the process. No new features were released during this period, but the work contributed to more resilient and maintainable serialization logic within the project.
