In June 2025, Michael Peck developed a workspace backup and recovery feature for the microsoft/AzureTRE repository, focusing on data resilience for virtual machines and file shares. He integrated Azure Recovery Services vaults and implemented configurable retention policies, enabling daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly backup schedules. Using Terraform and HCL, Michael automated backup orchestration within the workspace lifecycle, ensuring that backups were consistently created and preserved as part of workspace provisioning. This work addressed the need for reliable restore points and improved RPO/RTO readiness, demonstrating depth in cloud infrastructure automation and Infrastructure as Code practices without introducing new bugs during delivery.
