Worked on the openemr/openemr repository to deliver secure access controls for patient employer demographics data. Focused on backend and API development using PHP and Markdown, the work introduced authorization checks and new access scopes to the employer service endpoint, ensuring only authorized users could view sensitive demographic information. Implemented UUID validation to further restrict data access, aligning with privacy and compliance requirements for healthcare data. The approach emphasized robust security implementation, supporting auditable and compliant data sharing. Over the course of one month, contributed a feature that strengthened the application’s data privacy posture without addressing bug fixes during this period.
