Developed and integrated Device Tree Overlay Build and Install (DTBO) support into the home-assistant/buildroot repository, enabling streamlined building and installation of Linux device tree overlays from both in-tree and out-of-tree definitions. Leveraged expertise in build systems, embedded systems, and Linux kernel development to update configuration options and build scripts, primarily using Shell scripting. This work centralized overlay management within the build pipeline, improving hardware compatibility and accelerating the onboarding process for new boards. The enhancements increased build reliability and reproducibility, allowing for more efficient hardware integration and reducing time-to-market for devices requiring device tree overlays in embedded environments.
