During November 2024, Harding contributed to the mdn/browser-compat-data repository by addressing a bug related to Safari’s handling of the ::highlight CSS selector when combined with user-select: none. Using CSS and focusing on web compatibility, Harding identified that Safari incorrectly ignored the selector in this context and implemented a fix to ensure accurate compatibility data. Additionally, Harding updated the project’s Markdown documentation to clarify the selector’s behavior, improving the dataset’s reliability for developers. While the work focused on a single bug fix rather than new features, it demonstrated careful attention to detail and enhanced the accuracy of browser compatibility information.
