Worked on the NVIDIA/garak repository to enhance the command-line interface by improving reliability and user guidance when modules contain only inactive plugins. Addressed a common user pain point by updating error handling in Python, ensuring that the CLI now surfaces clear instructions and actionable feedback rather than ambiguous errors. Introduced a re-enumeration-based detection mechanism to identify modules mapped solely to inactive plugins, guiding users toward active alternatives. Maintained compatibility by isolating changes to the CLI rejection flow and preserving existing parsing semantics. Added regression testing to validate the new messaging, emphasizing robust CLI development, error handling, and comprehensive test coverage.
