Developed Avro Decimal Serde support for the ankane/avro-rs repository, focusing on enabling accurate serialization and deserialization of Decimal values within Avro’s binary format. The work involved implementing custom Serde logic in Rust to handle Decimal types, updating test structures to include Decimal fields, and refining the serialization path to ensure data integrity. Expanded test coverage was introduced to guard against regressions and improve reliability. This contribution addressed a key data handling challenge by ensuring that Decimal values are correctly processed, leveraging skills in Rust, Avro, and serialization to enhance the robustness and testability of the codebase.
