In November 2025, contributed to the BerriAI/litellm repository by developing an observability enhancement for Vertex AI integration. This work introduced a cumulative tool call index, enabling tracking of tool usage across multiple processing steps within AI workflows. The implementation required updates to method signatures and internal logic to ensure the index was accurately propagated throughout the backend. By leveraging Python and applying backend development and AI integration skills, the feature improved end-to-end visibility and debugging capabilities, while also supporting cost attribution. The enhancement established a foundation for deeper analytics and governance within Vertex AI pipelines, reflecting thoughtful engineering depth.
