Worked on optimizing the OCM FVT staging job scheduling within the openshift/release repository to enhance pipeline efficiency and reliability. Addressed resource contention on HCP management clusters by implementing a staggered scheduling strategy, introducing 20-minute intervals between job starts and prioritizing the longest jobs first. Enforced a cap of three concurrent HCP cluster creations to further balance load, ensuring all staging results completed by early morning UTC without impacting existing Integration or GCP workflows. Leveraged YAML for configuration and applied CI/CD and Kubernetes expertise to deliver a targeted solution that improved provisioning throughput while maintaining stability across related infrastructure.
June 2026 Monthly Summary for openshift/release: Focus: Improve scheduling efficiency and reliability of the OCM FVT pipeline by reducing contention on HCP management clusters while preserving existing Infrastructure for Integration and GCP jobs. What was delivered: Implemented OCM FVT Staging Job Scheduling Optimization by staggering staging jobs with 20-minute gaps starting at 02:00 UTC, longest jobs first, and enforcing a maximum of 3 concurrent HCP cluster creations. All FVT staging results target completion by ~06:30 UTC, with no changes to Integration or GCP workflows. This work is implemented in the openshift/release repo and is aligned with ROSA Eng practices.
