Worked on enhancing the reliability of the CloudWatch Agent within the aws/amazon-cloudwatch-agent repository by implementing a Graceful Server Reload Reliability Enhancement. Refactored the server reload process to use the Shutdown method instead of Close, enabling graceful termination and reducing ambiguity during configuration reloads. This approach minimized downtime and the risk of partial shutdowns, directly improving production availability. The work involved backend development using Go, with careful documentation and tracking of changes to support ongoing maintenance and future lifecycle improvements. Focus remained on robust server behavior during reloads, ensuring higher stability and reliability for cloud monitoring operations.
