During March 2025, Pete modernized the styling architecture for the KDKHD/kibana repository by migrating the Anomaly Explorer and Single Metric Viewer components from SCSS to Emotion. This work involved refactoring React components to use Emotion for styling, removing obsolete SCSS files, and unifying the styling approach to support consistent theming across the UI. By centralizing styles in Emotion and leveraging TypeScript and JavaScript, Pete improved maintainability and reduced CSS debt, enabling faster UI iterations and easier future updates. The migration was carefully documented and executed with commit-level traceability, reflecting a focused approach to code cleanliness and long-term maintainability.
