Philo enhanced the discourse/discourse_docker repository by improving the clarity and usability of SMTP configuration within the standalone.yml file. Focusing on configuration management, Philo updated YAML comments to provide clearer guidance on SMTP password handling, optional SSL verification modes, and authentication types. This work aimed to reduce common misconfiguration issues and streamline the onboarding process for operators setting up email delivery. By documenting these nuanced configuration options directly in the YAML file, Philo enabled more accurate self-service setup and aligned the documentation with existing repository guidelines. The changes reflected a targeted, documentation-driven approach to improving infrastructure reliability and user experience.
