Developed foundational scaffolding for edge-based image optimization within the fastly/Viceroy repository, focusing on enabling future end-to-end image processing at the edge. The work involved defining hostcalls ABIs, creating WITX interfaces, and implementing Rust bindings to establish a robust API surface for image optimization. Provisional unsupported error responses were introduced to facilitate parallel integration efforts while maintaining safe defaults. Code formatting standards were enforced across all scaffolding commits using cargo fmt, ensuring consistency and maintainability. Additionally, the viceroy-component-adapter was rebuilt to align with the new integration surface, preserving compatibility and supporting ongoing system programming and WebAssembly development.
The March 2025 sprint delivered foundational work for edge-based image optimization in fastly/Viceroy. Completed initial scaffolding and interface definitions, enabling future end-to-end image processing at the edge, along with code quality improvements and repository-level readiness.
