During September 2025, Zhou Hongyi developed and integrated the Alibaba Cloud Qwen rerank model into the milvus-io/milvus repository, focusing on enhancing text reranking and search relevance. He designed new data structures and implemented a DashScope API client in Go, leveraging his expertise in API integration, backend development, and cloud services. Comprehensive unit tests were written to validate the rerank data flow and ensure robust API client interactions. This work established a scalable foundation for incorporating external AI models into Milvus, improving downstream analytics and ranking quality while maintaining clear scope, test coverage, and alignment with release readiness standards.
