Worked on the p4lang/p4c repository to enhance build system flexibility by implementing a configurable build path for the bf-asm assembler. Developed a new environment variable, ENABLE_BF_ASM, and updated Python-based driver scripts to conditionally enable or disable bf-asm during open-p4studio builds. This approach introduced a runtime switch, allowing for more adaptable and scalable build configurations without manual script edits. Focused on build system configuration and environment variable management, the work reduced configuration friction and positioned the project for easier integration of future assemblers. No major bugs were addressed during this period, with efforts concentrated on feature development.
