Worked on enhancing code quality and maintainability in the pyiron/pyiron_atomistics repository by focusing on comprehensive code formatting improvements. Utilized Python and the Black code formatter to standardize the codebase, ensuring consistent style and reducing the likelihood of future merge conflicts. Improved the readability of assert statements by refining line breaks, which aids both automated formatting checks and human code reviews. The work did not involve new feature development or bug fixes but instead laid a foundation for easier future contributions. All changes were clearly documented with concise commit messages, supporting traceability and simplifying future maintenance for the development team.
