Worked on the bluewave-labs/Checkmate repository to enhance the diagnostics module by addressing a critical issue where MongoDB’s dbStats could omit the totalSize metric, leading to potential UI crashes and data integrity concerns. Developed a robust backend solution in TypeScript that derives totalSize using storageSize and indexSize at both database and collection levels, ensuring accurate diagnostics even across legacy MongoDB Atlas shapes. Added comprehensive unit tests to validate the new derivation logic, improving maintainability and resilience against future schema changes. Demonstrated strong skills in MongoDB data handling, backend development, and unit testing throughout the month’s focused engineering effort.
