Worked on the openshift/hypershift repository to introduce configurable MetadataOptions for the OpenShiftEC2NodeClass, enabling fine-grained control over EC2 Instance Metadata Service settings for Karpenter-managed nodes. Leveraged Go to refine the API, adopting non-pointer enum types and value-type fields with omitzero to enhance robustness and maintain alignment with OpenShift conventions. Improved documentation and ensured clear mapping to upstream Karpenter types, supporting customer adoption and operational consistency. Focused on cloud infrastructure and Kubernetes best practices, the work enhanced security and configurability by allowing per-node IMDS configuration, while maintaining repository-wide consistency and improving the overall developer and operator experience.
