Worked on the k-wall/kroxylicious repository to deliver cross-namespace Strimzi Kafka references support within the Kroxylicious operator, enhancing multi-namespace deployment capabilities. The solution involved updating the API to allow specifying a namespace in KafkaService references and refactoring the reconciliation logic to leverage Kubernetes informer caches for efficient cross-namespace resource lookups. Integration tests and documentation were expanded to cover these new scenarios, ensuring reliable CA Secret resolution across namespaces. This work, implemented in Java and utilizing Kubernetes and Strimzi, reduced API-server load and improved the reliability and consistency of multi-namespace Kafka deployments without introducing new bugs during the period.
