Ragarkar worked on the apache/hbase repository, focusing on backend development and performance optimization using Java. During the month, Ragarkar addressed a critical issue with stale region cache metrics following flush operations when cacheOnWrite was enabled. By refactoring the block caching logic in HFileWriterImpl, Ragarkar ensured that BlockCacheKey construction accurately reflected the cache state, aligning metrics with actual data. Additional tests were implemented in TestCacheEviction to validate caching behavior under various scenarios, improving reliability and preventing regressions. This work enhanced the accuracy and business-readiness of cache metrics, supporting better monitoring and capacity planning for HBase operations.
