
Worked on enhancing storage efficiency and reliability for the embedded etcd layer within the apache/skywalking-banyandb repository. Developed and delivered an auto-compaction and defragmentation feature, allowing operators to configure compaction mode, retention, and backend storage quota for improved storage management. Implemented scheduled defragmentation to reclaim disk space and optimize IO performance, reducing operational risk and supporting system stability. The work focused on backend development and configuration management, leveraging Go and Markdown to expose clear configuration options. These changes provided operators with greater control over storage resources and contributed to more reliable distributed system administration within the project.
