Worked on the yugabyte/yugabyte-db repository to enhance alert system flexibility by delivering a configurable expiry warning threshold for CDC SDK replication slot alerts. This involved making the threshold editable within alert templates and updating the associated database migration, allowing users to tailor alert behavior to their operational needs. Addressed migration process reliability by resolving a database migration conflict, renaming an SQL migration file to prevent future issues. The work demonstrated practical application of SQL and YAML for database management and alert system configuration, focusing on maintainability and user control. Delivered one feature and fixed one bug within the month-long contribution period.
