During July 2025, R. Rauwend worked on the electronicarts/gigi repository, delivering foundational support for the BC1 texture format across multiple rendering backends. Using C++ and leveraging expertise in DirectX 12, WebGPU, and texture compression, Rauwend mapped the BC1_Unorm format to both DXGI and WebGPU standards, ensuring broader asset compatibility. Utilities were updated to recognize and process BC1 textures, while error logging for texture conversion was enhanced to streamline diagnostics. This work established a technical base for future expansion of texture formats, improving the resilience and scalability of the asset pipeline and supporting cross-platform rendering workflows within the project.

Monthly summary for 2025-07 (electronicarts/gigi): Delivered foundational cross-backend BC1 texture format support, enabling broader asset compatibility and future performance improvements. Implemented BC1_Unorm mappings to DXGI and WebGPU, updated utilities to recognize BC1, and enhanced texture conversion error logging for better diagnostics. This work establishes groundwork for expanded texture formats and cross-platform rendering pipelines, improving asset pipeline resilience and reducing debugging time.
