During February 2025, Rand Azraik developed a targeted UI feature for the zed-industries/zed repository, focusing on improving the clarity of .NET file representation within the application. Using Rust and applying UI/UX design principles, Rand introduced a system that assigns distinct icon keys to .NET solution and project files, enabling users to visually differentiate between these file types more efficiently. This approach reduced cognitive load and streamlined the process of identifying project structures in the interface. The work was delivered as a focused, traceable commit, reflecting a methodical approach to feature development and a clear understanding of both Rust and user experience.
