Worked on reliability improvements for the derailed/cilium repository by addressing a bug in Envoy Proxy’s circuit-breaking integration. Focused on service discovery, the developer modified the logic to normalize service names by removing the port number, which previously caused backend selection failures. This targeted change reduced the risk of misrouting and ensured consistent backend selection across Kubernetes deployments using service mesh patterns. The solution was implemented using YAML and leveraged expertise in Envoy Proxy and Kubernetes. Clear documentation and commit messages supported traceability, and the work maintained code quality through a focused, low-risk update that improved routing reliability without introducing new features.
