Rem120 enhanced observability for the Astro bundle backend in the astronomer/ap-vendor repository by developing a granular metrics monitoring solution. Leveraging configuration management and monitoring skills, Rem120 introduced a new metric mapping layer using YAML, which exposed detailed metrics via statsd-exporter. This approach enabled tracking of refresh operations, tarball sizes, file counts, and download and extract timings, providing actionable insights for performance tuning and capacity planning. The work laid a technical foundation for future dashboards and alerting tied to backend metrics. Rem120’s contribution focused on backend metrics instrumentation, delivering depth in monitoring capabilities without addressing bug fixes during this period.
