Worked on the schubergphilis/terraform-aws-mcaf-securityhub-findings-manager repository to enhance how Jira integration credentials are managed within a Terraform-based findings manager. Developed a feature allowing credentials to be stored flexibly in either AWS Secrets Manager or AWS SSM Parameter Store, updating both Terraform and Lambda components to support this choice. Addressed a critical validation bug to ensure exactly one credential ARN is provided when Jira integration is enabled, reducing misconfiguration risks. Leveraged skills in AWS, Terraform, and Python to improve security, enable easier credential rotation, and maintain code quality through thorough linting and code review processes during implementation.
Monthly summary for 2025-05: Delivered flexibility and reliability for Jira integration credentials in the Terraform-based findings manager, plus targeted validation to prevent misconfigurations. Implemented support for storing Jira credentials in either AWS Secrets Manager or AWS SSM Parameter Store, with updates to Terraform and Lambda to align with the chosen storage backend. Fixed a critical validation bug to ensure exactly one credential ARN is provided when Jira integration is enabled. These changes improve security, rotation readiness, and operational resilience, while maintaining code quality and maintainability.
