Worked on the janhq/jan repository to implement automatic text direction detection throughout the chat user interface. Leveraging React and TypeScript, applied the dir="auto" attribute to key components including the chat input, message display, markdown renderer, and edit dialog. This approach enabled the interface to dynamically adjust between right-to-left and left-to-right text directions based on user input, enhancing accessibility and usability for multilingual users. The change was designed for cross-component consistency, ensuring that a single update improved the experience across multiple UI surfaces. Focus remained on front end development, with attention to accessibility and internationalization best practices.
